Open Lines with Finite Buffers - Improvement Strategies

All the improvement strategies for the infinite buffer line are also relevant for the finite buffer system. Note, that these include strategies like implementing Pull instead of Push, as well as changes in capacity and variability.  In addition to these, we have the option of altering buffer sizes.  To reduce line WIP level for a given throughput, we have the following alternatives, roughly in the order of impact:

1. Increasing the buffer size before the bottleneck
2. Increasing the buffer size after the bottleneck
3. Increasing buffer size at non-bottleneck.
